Housing Tax Credit Extended...The First-Time Homebuyers tax credit has been extended and expanded. First-Time Homebuyers have until April 30, 2010 to get into contract and until July 1, 2010 to close.

The program also offers a credit of $6,500 to other homeowners who have lived in their current home for at least five years and are wanting to move.

The income limits have risen from $75,000 for a single buyer to $125,000 and from $125,000 to $225,000 for a couple.

The tax credit phases out above that: over $145,000 for singles and over $245,000 for couples.
